The Magpie pigeon also known as the English Magpie pigeon, is a small to medium but tall breed of fancy pigeon characterized by a slender body, erect posture and distinctive markings and colors.Origins of the Magpie PigeonThe Magpie pigeon is the result of many years of selective breeding by dedicated breeders and fanciers.Evidence points to the original magpie pigeon being an old Tumbler variety believed to be an Elster Tumbler (aka German magpie) that originally came out of Denmark via Germany before 1876.The German breed was modified to produce a bird that was more stylish overall with a greater length and reach. It became more erect with longer legs and the head was made narrower and longer. The new bird breed was later crossed with a French Baghdad pigeon and today, most English magpie pigeons are of the German/English/Bagdad bloodline. The magpie pigeon is often referred to by its nickname, the ‘Queen of Pigeons’, in England. This is largely to do with the fact that the breed can very easily be spotted in all parts of England, as well as most parts of America.Distribution And Habitat of the Magpie PigeonA lot of magpie pigeons are kept domestically in the UK.The bird was first exhibited in the USA in the late 1870s and is popular in New York state and New Jersey with limited populations elsewhere in the country. It is bred for its beauty as a show bird, for its racing qualities or kept simply as a pet for which it is very well suited. The Magpie pigeon is a hardy breed and adaptable to all kinds of climates. It can still be found in some places across Eastern Europe in its original, undomesticated form. There’s a Facebook group for English Magpie owners and pigeon fanciers.Magpie Pigeon AppearanceWingspanLengthWeightColoringMagpie Pigeon50+ cm40+ cm400 – 460 gBlack, dun, blue, silver, red, yellow, cream, pearl and Isabel.Average Feral Pigeon64 – 72 cm32 – 37 cm300 – 500 gBluish grey with some blackThe body of a magpie pigeon is predominantly white. The head, neck, breast, back, saddle and tail are all colored, generally a black that carries a metallic, iridescent sheen. The cut on their breast should ideally be evenly defined and sharp. The black and white coloring resembles that of a magpie and is probably the origin of its name. The black feathers exhibit the same characteristic iridescent sheen in both breeds of these two birds but put a photo of them side by side and you’ll see that’s where the resemblance ends. For exhibitions, the most desirable magpie pigeons are those with black coloring, but they can also be found in yellow, silver, dun and blue colors. One particular genetic quirk is that the silver and blue mutations of the breed have black tail bars. The beak of a magpie pigeon is longer than average and flesh-colored.They tend to stand slender and tall on clean legs with their elongated necks outstretched.Character of the Magpie PigeonThe magpie pigeon has a reputation for being a very hardy and strong breed, evidenced by the way in which they can

Take a hike, buddy... It's your word against the word of a Freedom member - good luck with that.― Flint telling the player off.False claims is a side mission available in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat.Summary[]A mission that involves the exposure of the thieving stalker, Magpie (Flint, his name as a Freedom member).Starting the quest[]After starting the mission In Search of Magpie, upon the player's very first visit to Yanov station, they will meet a Freedom stalker known as Flint. Flint can be first heard telling fellow Freedom stalkers about how he killed a controller. Subsequently, upon each return to Yanov station, the player can hear Flint boasting about more of his so-called "achievements". However, it becomes clear that he's actually taking credits for what the player did. Flint's stories depend on how many side missions the player has completed beforehand:Area Maps: Flint can be heard telling everyone about how he discovered the shortcut between Zaton and Jupiter through trial and error.Oasis: Flint can be heard telling everyone about him discovering the Oasis.Bloodsucker Lair: Flint can be heard telling everyone how he singlehandedly killed every bloodsucker in the lair until they were all wiped out.Anomaly research: Flint can be heard telling how he helped the Ecologists setting up detectors in several anomalous zones.Anytime Flint is done telling his stories, the player can approach him and accuse him of lying, which results in Flint telling the player off. The mission starts when the player accuses him for the first time. Eventually, after accusing him three times of lying, he will start telling a story about how he was hired by a group of stalkers in Zaton to hunt down a chimera, claiming that the rookie they brought alongside them to watch the entrance ran away, forcing him to fight off and kill the mutant alone. This reveals Flint's identity as Magpie, and updates the mission In Search of Magpie.Once Flint's true identity is established, the player has three choices:Turn in Flint to Lt. Col. Shulga, which contributes towards getting the A Friend of Duty achievement.Turn in Flint to Loki, which contributes towards getting the A Friend of Freedom achievement.Report back to Gonta, which contributes towards getting the A Friend of Stalkers achievement (and also results in completing the In Search of Magpie mission).Even if the player turned in Flint to either Duty or Freedom, In Search of Magpie can still be completed by telling Gonta about it (which also unlocks the mission Hunting the Chimera). Regardless of how the mission is completed, the achievement Courier of Justice is unlocked upon completion.Alternate ending[]There is a quicker, alternate way of completing the mission. Into a killer. Not The Hangman, that’s Carmine Falcone. He ultimately dies toward the end of The Batman, shot and killed as part of The Riddler’s (Paul Dano) plan while Sofia is still in Arkham. But after discovering she’s seemingly never getting out, she beats a fellow prisoner, Magpie (Marié Botha), to death.(Third side-note: Magpie, aka Margaret Pye, is a DC Comics villain mostly associated with the Batfamily. She was portrayed previously by Sarah Schenkkan on Gotham, and Rachel Matthews on Batwoman. Also RIP, Magpie.)But the biggest deaths are about to come. After a speech to the assembled Falcone family over a meatball and spaghetti dinner, ostensibly as she’s about to be exiled to Italy, she instead gasses them all to death except for Johnny Viti (Michael Kelly) and young Gia Viti (Kenzie Grey) in an event I’m going to christen The Red Sauce Wedding. It’s not a wedding, but you get it. It’s HBO.In any case, the point here is that after a decade of torture in Arkham, Sofia has had enough. She’s gone from a gentle soul who cared about mental health, to a woman who is ready to take back her power. “For ten years, men have lied to me,” Sofia says. “They think I’m broken. I’m not broken.”She is ready to break everyone else, though. And in a twisted way, while she’s not Hangman, she has become what her father wanted her to be when he offered her the family business. She’s a killer. And Gotham City better watch out because Sofia Falcone is gone. Enter Sofia Gigante.Where To Watch The Penguin:No offers available for this configuration; please inspect the debug log.The Penguin Premiere Dates And Episode Guide:The first episode of The Penguin premieres Thursday, September 19 at 9 pm ET on HBO and Max. "The more successful he was, the more miserable he became." Book editor Susan Ryeland (Lesley Manville) provides this insight into the mindset of bestselling mystery author Alan Conway's (Conleth Hill) actions in the finale of "Magpie Murders." After receiving a fatal diagnosis, the snooty Alan schemes to forever taint the legacy of his popular Atticus Pünd detective novels, believing them to be frivolous pap and not "important" writing. His plan? With the imminent publication of his final book titled "Magpie Murders," eagle-eyed readers would realize that unscrambling the first letters for each novel in the detective series would spell out "AN ANAGRAM." In turn, that would lead readers to unscrambling the ultimate anagram of all, the name of Alan's famed detective, ATTICUS PUND. "A STUPID . . . " Susan helpfully spells out, albeit incompletely, ". . . and that leaves a four-letter word – one of the worst, one of the most offensive in the English language.""The anagram is disgusting. I mean, it's horrible, really."Horrified, Susan's publishing colleague and boss, Charles Clover (Michael Maloney), kills Alan in order to change the title of the final book (naming it "The Magpie Murders" would ruin the anagram tip-off) and thus save the entire business from losing the Atticus Pünd legacy and sales.Anthony Horowitz, who had written the original novel "Magpie Murders," spoke to Salon about maintaining that specific ending when adapting his book for television."Whenever I wrote for 'Agatha Christie's Poirot,' . . .
